DO I HAVE TO DO YOGA X?

A couple of years ago I started doing P90X and have met a lot of people who have also been doing or done P90X. I would say the most common comments or questions I get about P90X deal with YOGA X. They often go something like this “I love P90X, but I don’t do YOGA X because it is too long and boring” or “Do I really have to do YOGA X?” The way I respond to that question is with a, “YES!” YOGA X is so crucial to your workout routine. It is central to seeing the gains that you want to see. There is actually a story of Tony Horton being asked if he was on a deserted island and could only do one workout, what would it be, without hesitation he responded, “Yoga”. Below are some reasons why he responded that way.

Benefits of Yoga:

  • Improved Strength
  • Improved Flexibility
  • Improved Posture
  • Improved Breathing
  • Improved Concentration
  • Improved Mood
  • Stress Relief

Some say that yoga is like the fountain of youth, which is why Tony Horton has placed YOGA X into P90X. Having completed P90X, I do understand that 90 minutes of yoga can be difficult at times. Well, guess what, it is still possible to do yoga, instructed by Tony Horton, in less than 90 minutes. Tony Horton has some different alternatives to the 90 minute long YOGA X. Here is a peek at the alternatives out there…

P90X One on One – Fountain of Youth Yoga

yoga x
This workout is a little over 45 minutes long. Fountain of Youth Yoga is a good alternative to its 90 minute YOGA X. You will notice some of the same movements from YOGA X, while learning some great new ones! Fountain of Youth Yoga is filmed in a way that makes it feel as though Tony is right their one-on-one with you, it is raw and uncut. Tony does this in the comfort of his own home, just as you do it in the comfort of yours. So if you are looking for a nicely paced yoga workout that is half the time of YOGA X, be sure to check out Fountain of Youth Yoga!

P90X One on One – Yoga: MC2

yoga x
I can’t stress how important yoga is in any workout routine. So how can you ensure you are getting the most out of every movement? The answer is, focused breathing. In Yoga: MC2 you are going to see some movements that you have not seen in YOGA X. Again, this is filmed in the comfort of Tony’s home and I must be honest; this workout is not going to be a stroll in the park. This workout still has the feel of other Tony Horton yoga workouts like YOGA X, just a little more intense. This DVD offers great new movements and combinations to challenge your strength, focus and flexibility!

Ala ke Kino – “Awaken the Body” with Tony Horton

Ho Ala ke Kino

This DVD is recorded on a remote beach in Kauai, Hawaii, which is where the name Ala ke Kino comes from, it means “awaken the body”. The graceful movements and beautiful island setting combine to make this a great workout that will truly “awaken the body”. Like other yoga programs this 30 minute workout will “awaken the body” in a way that can: improve your overall health, flexibility and coordination, as well as prepare your body and mind for the long day ahead by energizing your morning, it can also be used to unwind from a long and stressful day. Even though this workout is a shorter and less intense to YOGA X, it is still a great alternative!
